Apples and Oranges

I've been wanting to buy some cycling shoes, so while I was at the Chandler Mall the other day I decided to step into Finish Line to see if they had some. My experience went something like this:

Store Employee: Hi! What can I help you find?
Me: I'm looking for cycling shoes. Do you have any?
Store Employee: No, I don't have any cycling shoes, but I have track shoes. They have spikes on the bottom.Me: Uh...what? OK, well....hmmm, never mind. Thanks.
Can you say

Fan For Life

I love baseball.
I love Diamondbacks baseball.
I get giddy when pitchers and catchers report to spring training, and I look forward to Opening Day every year. I absolutely love watching "my team" on t.v. and especially love going to Chase Field to watch in person.
So, I just sat here on my couch for the last 3 hours watching my favorite baseball team lose their game, and in turn, lose any possibility of making it into the post season and a possible World Series try. I thought for a moment that I might actually shed a tear for the end of another D-Backs baseball season, but I was strong...no tears have been shed.......yet.
You're probably thinking I live a pretty sad life. I mean, I wouldn't blame you for wondering what a 30+ year old woman is doing sitting on her couch, by herself, in the middle of the day, watching a bunch of overgrown kids play a school yard game. I ask myself the same question...often. Especially when the best team (in my opinion) in the National League West goes on a massive losing streak and blows any possibility of another World Series win. And yet I still watch, every day...hopelessly loyal and dedicated...hoping for a miracle. I'm committed to "my team". I'm a fan for life.
So, since there isn't going to be a D-Backs post season or World Series this year, I'll just look forward to February 15, 2009, when pitchers and catchers report to spring training. And you can bet your bottom dollar that I'll be back on my couch on April 6, 2009, at 12:40 p.m., watching the D-Backs season opener against the Colorado Rockies!!! I Love My Diamondbacks!!

Happy Medley

It doesn't take much to make me happy...I'd say I'm pretty easy to please. As long as my family is content, my house is clean, and my tummy is full, I'm satisfied. That combo makes up my "Happy Medley" But, when you add my "Happy Medley" with a medley by my most favorite singer in the whole wide world, well...hmmmm.... my evening was pretty close to perfect.

Delicious Find

Today Kevin and I had the most delicious, diet crashing, fat infused, calorie overloaded lunch EVER!!! It had to have at least 12,000 calories...but I'd go there again in a second. It was called Cafe Laguna and it's on Power between Baseline and Guadalupe. You can check it out here. I had been feeling sad ever since I wasn't able to go to Utah and attend Swiss Days in Midway because they have the best "Swiss Tacos" ever. (Wondering what Swiss Days is??? Click here.) However, I felt the happiness return as I indulged in a delicious Original Indian Fry bread covered in ground beef and pinto beans, then topped with lettuce, cheese, scallions, and sour cream. I was in Fry Bread heaven!! If you want to go, call me! I'll meet you there!!!

Happy 7th Birthday Treyson!!!

Treyson was born exactly one week after his "due date", and my life has never been the same. It's hard to believe that he is already 7!!! Time sure goes by fast.

Some of the things I love most about Trey is:

  • He is almost always happy and smiling
  • He is always willing to help out
  • He has an infectious laugh
  • He's a snuggle bug--so loving and caring
  • He loves his big brothers and looks up to them
  • He always volunteers to pray and has the sweetest, most sincere prayers
  • He loves his mommy (yay me!! Aren't I lucky??!! oh, I guess I should add that he loves his daddy as well!!!)
  • He always tries his hardest in everything he does
  • He is a kind friend
  • He brings so much love and joy to his family

Tonight we went to a fun place called "Jumping Party" and had a blast, accompanied by Trey's best bud, Keaton, and the rest of the Steck family. We jumped until we could jump no more. I'll probably be sore tomorrow...how pathetic is that??? Here's a few pictures of our fun night. He came home from school wearing this "crown". (Should I be concerned that it resembles something the Pope might wear??)For his b-day dinner, he wanted steak tacos. They were yummy!!He couldn't hardly wait to open his gifts!Best BudsThe Gang

We love you Treyson!! Happy Birthday!!!

Never Forget

It's hard to believe that 7 years have gone by since this:
I woke up that day anxiously awaiting the birth of Treyson (who's due date happened to be Sept. 11th) but my excitement quickly turned to sadness as I was bombarded by images on my t.v. that will never leave my mind. It became more real to me earlier this year as I traveled to New York and stood at the site of the terrorist attacks, in complete and utter awe of the amount of destruction that still remains 7 years later. I'm proud to be an American and forever grateful for the privileges and blessings I enjoy on a daily basis.

Field Trip

Tate has been (impatiently) waiting for 2 weeks to go on his first field trip. Well, today finally came...like I kept telling him it would...and we went to the Arizona Museum of Natural History in downtown Mesa. He had a BLAST!! He's been telling me for 2 weeks that he wanted to see the T-Rex and he wanted Miss Leslie to ride in our car. We saw all kinds of dinosaurs, panned for gold, and saw some really small jail cells. I'm sure Miss Leslie was glad when we finally left because Tate was in her ear the whole time..."Miss Leslie, look at this!", "Miss Leslie, come over here! Look at this!", "Miss Leslie.." blah, blah, blah...you get the idea. She's a great sport--Thanks, Leslie!!! The only thing missing was his buddy, Brendan, who just couldn't find enough courage this morning to face those big, scary dinosaurs. We sure missed ya Brendan!!

I'm loving these commercials that have been on T.V. lately. Here is the one I've seen most recently. More commercials are available for viewing here.

Kid At Heart

Kevin's constantly telling me how old he is. How his muscles ache. How his shoulder hurts. How he feels old. I have to ask... if he is, indeed, "old", then why the heck is he playing on a city league softball team?? And why does he get up every morning at 5 a.m. to go to the gym to play racquetball?? Well, I'll answer my own questions...BECAUSE HE'S JUST A HUGE KID AT HEART!! And, he loves the competition and the friendships he's made because of it. I sure love my BIGGEST KID!!

And I sure love getting to the ball park every Tuesday night to find out what color of socks he has decided to wear!!

1982 FLASHBACK

When Ty came down for breakfast this morning I did a double-take. I had to stop for a second and make sure that I hadn't gone back in time to 1982. I could have sworn that I was looking at the 10 year old version of my hubby, wearing the pink shirt that he had when we were in Mr. Jacob's class. I was right back in the 5th grade when I had a huge crush on the cutest blonde headed, blue eyed boy (with freckles on his nose-just like Ty) that I had ever seen. I'm going to have to go through my grade school year books and find the picture of Kevin in his...I'm pretty sure he wore it for picture day. I love it that my Tiger looks just like his daddy did when he was that age!!

Optimism

I just saw this commercial on TV and had to add it here on my blog. It is so cute and such a great lesson in optimism. Maybe you've seen it...if not, here you go! Enjoy!
