Happy Memorial Day!

I woke up this morning wishing I were here: But since I'm not, I'll take a day with my family, swimming in our pool, and enjoying each other's company. I'm so thankful for the brave men and women who fought, and continue to fight, to preserve the freedoms I enjoy. I'm truly blessed!
Happy Memorial Day!

{try really hard to disregard the screaming lady
in the background..she wasn't excited AT ALL!}
The timing on the fireworks (thanks to graduation at Highland High School) couldn't have been better! The boys thought they were for them...we didn't tell them otherwise. :)

School's Out!!

End of year awards: Treyson
Trey and Mrs. King Ty:
Apparently, Ty had an awards presentation at school on Tuesday, but he "conveniently" forgot to tell me. It's no wonder I didn't have any idea...the information was probably shoved into his backpack that also contained the entire contents of his desk from the entire year. Oy!
Here's to a couple of months off!! Whew!

White House Tea Party

This year Ty was assigned George Washington for the White House Tea Party. With baseball season being in full swing, we didn't take much time on a costume, but Ty did a great job on his poster, and in keeping up with his assignments. I was really proud of him! Cute Shelby was Dolly Madison.

Spring Sports Awards

On Monday night we went to the Jr High for the Spring Sports Awards. It was quick and to the point--perfect! The season went by really quickly and Tanner had a great time! Here's the classic, "don't take my picture, mom" face.

DRHS Baseball State Champs 2010

On Saturday night we ventured out to Glendale to watch Desert Ridge High School baseball team win their 2nd consecutive State Championship! It was a blast!
Tate parked himself near the dug-out and watched the team warm up. He was mezmorized by the players!

Treyson was helping us save seats for the Nikolaus family!

The celebration!!!

Growth Spurt

There once was a little boy who loved school. He was a very competitive boy, and loved to be the best at everything he did. One day he came home from school with a small cucumber sprout.
"Mrs. King says it won't grow", he said, dejectedly. "I'm going to water it every day and see if I can get it to grow".
And so he did.
Every day.
For 5 days.
"It's just not growing!", he exclaimed.
Luckily, this little boy's Grandma H, who has a Green Thumb, was visiting.
She told the little boy, "Be patient. Things like this take time".
A trip to Wal-Mart, and $2.00 later, that cucumber plant had an immediate growth spurt!
And then the little boy was happy and none the wiser!

My Baby Turns 6!!!

I know that I say this every time there's a birthday, but WHERE DOES THE TIME GO???? It's hard to believe that just six short years ago I looked like this: OK, so who am I kidding? I STILL look like that!!!
I will never forget the day Tater Bug was born. We were a scheduled induction, and it couldn't have gone better. Well, except for maybe NOT having an intern try (many, many times, and in the end, FAIL) to put in a catheter. And, maybe Dr. Beck wouldn't have had to show his Herculean strength by single-handedly lifting a full sized recliner out of the way, while telling off his nurse--not-so-gently reminding her about the signs of impending delivery, and speedily putting on his gloves just in time to "catch" Tate. (The delivery was topped off by Dr. Beck commenting on the size of Tater's nose and feet...a few times!!) I guess I didn't care much about the circus going on around me...I just couldn't wait to meet my 4th little man!! And now, here he is, my big 6 year old! Again, where does the time go???
He had a great birthday! Grandma H was here for a week prior, and she made his whole birthday by suggesting she take him out to get steak for his birthday dinner. She definitely knows that the way to my meat-a-tarian's heart!! We went to Logan's Roadhouse for a yummy meal, then back home to open the gifts from her.
He got some Legos, a Toy Story 2 book, and a stuffed "Rex". He loved it!!
On his actual birthday he opened gifts from Grandma and Grandpa L, which included more Legos and a transformer. He got a card and $$ from Auntie Trisha and Auntie Katherine, and a card from Great Auntie Charlyce and Uncle Don. He got a nerf football, more Legos, a big bouncy ball from our family. He was a pretty happy birthday boy!!
He got lots of phone calls wishing him a happy birthday! And, the icing on the cake was that he got to be "Star of the Week" in his class at school!!! I'm pretty sure that the whole family would agree that we just adore this boy!! Our family wouldn't be the same without him. He is a joy and we love him sooooo much!

Happy Birthday, Tater Bug!!!
