Music, Music, Music?

Treyson and Ty both had concerts tonight.  Treyson's was for strings and Ty's was for chorus.  The were both good.  And short.  No complaints here!

Sixteen Candles and Other Stuff

So...my baby turned SIXTEEN.
16
And I don't want to know whether it was sweet or not...although I'm leaning towards, um, not.
He wanted exactly 2 things for his birthday.
1-A CAR
2-AN IPHONE
I told him to go to plan B.
As it turns out, plan B through Z were exactly the same as plan A.
After much consideration, we were absolutely sure he wasn't going to get either.
What he did get was......
***Drum Roll Please***
A brand new Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone!!
And from what I understand...it's BETTER than the iPhone!
I wasn't sure if he'd like it or not, but he did!  SCORE!!  I think he had a great day!
We took Tanner to sushi for his birthday dinner on Saturday, December 1st and took Treyson along as well because he never did get his birthday sushi.
I sure love these boys!
Tanner took his Drivers Test on the 4th, but had a little run-in with an orange cone...so....well, you can guess.
BUT...on the 5th he took it again and PASSED!!
We have another licensed driver in the house!!!  Woot Woot!

On the 8th was Winter Formal.  Tanner was asked by Sadie Johnson and he was pretty excited.  The Sophomore class was in charge of Winter Formal, so Tanner spent a lot of time at the school decorating the cafeteria and then had to be there after the dance to clean up.  It was a l-o-n-g day!
I think he had a good time though.
He's growing up way too fast.  Sniff, sniff.

First Date...Coming Soon

Tanner got asked to his very first school dance today.
He was pretty excited and I cried.
Not really.
OK, maybe a little.
Anyway...his friend Sydney helped him put together some stuff to answer Sadie.
Winter Formal is on December 8th.

DRAMA!!

Ty had to take Drama this year as an elective.
He wasn't too happy about it.
However, we now have this gem to add to our library of hilarious family videos!!
The sound is really bad, but listing to Tanner giggle as he is trying to video tape it is the best!!

Kevin and I weren't able to go, but Tanner said that Ty did really good.
He definitely makes us laugh all of the time!!

DRHS Baseball Banquet

Friday, May 18th, was Tanner's HS Baseball Banquet.  It was initially supposed to be a nice catered dinner, but due to lack of funds it turned into a 'desserts only' banquet with desserts provided by the player's parents.
The good thing was that I won a gift basket in the raffle with 2 D-Backs tickets, 4 rounds of golf and 2 different golf courses, and 2-30 minute batting cage sessions.  Now, I realize that I won't be the one to use any of those things, but my boys will and that makes me happy!
The most impressive thing, to me, was that there was probably around 25 boys who had a 3.5 GPA or better, and about 6-8 that had a 4.0 or better...Tanner was one of those boys!  It was a proud mommy moment!

April

It seems to be my mantra lately...
Where did ____________ (fill in the month) go?????
April is no different.  I'm reeling at the speed at which this month has flown by, and yet it has seemed really long, too.  That probably doesn't make any sense to anyone but me.
I'm going to try my hardest to re-cap this month.  I did post on the 3rd about mom and dad coming down, so I'll start from there.
The easiest way to describe my month is this way...with a photo of my calendar.
Maybe it doesn't look too bad to you, but it was incredibly busy.  Baseball is in full swing and there were days that I had 4 games to go to.  It was incredibly difficult to choose between watching Tanner play, or watching Ty, since their games were scheduled on the same days at the same time.  They were both so understanding and seemed to be ok whether I was there or not.  I hate having to choose.  It makes me sad.  Especially since I hate to miss ANYTHING!!
My dear friend, Stephanie, came to sunny AZ with her family and some friends for their spring break.  It was so wonderful to spend an afternoon shopping, lunching, and catching up!  She is an amazing woman, wife, and mother, and I love her dearly!  I sure miss you, Steph!
{blurry cell phone photo--at least it sorta hides my hideous sunburned nose and sudden and extreme case of adult acne!!!}
Treyson made it into the elementary school's annual high jump competition again.  I didn't get any photos of him jumping (too many kids and parents to get a good view), but I did get some of him waiting to jump.
(Try to ignore the fact that the boy in front of Treyson is scratching his butt....uuuggg...)
(...and I have no idea why this boy is wearing a white glove on his hand.  Maybe trying to channel his inner Michael Jackson?  Wow.)

Easter snuck up on me this year.  Needless to say, I was grossly unprepared.  I did manage, however, to get some eggs boiled for our annual coloring...
Sadly, that was the extent of our Easter celebration.
On the 10th, Becca and her family came down because Rob had meetings in Phoenix.  We had such a fun time hanging out with them!  They were incredibly good sports to support the boys by watching their many, many baseball games.  Of course, I didn't take any pictures.  I don't know why.  I can't explain it.  Dang!  We love you guys!!  Thanks for coming down to visit!
On April 12th and 13th, I got to tend my very favorite redhead in the whole world!  She is such a sweetheart!

On the 16th, Tanner was recognized at a school assembly as a Golden Scholar.  I was so proud!!

The 17th provided me with some much needed "girl time".  Leslie, Sara, and I lunched and talked the afternoon away at Liberty Market in Gilbert.  It was great!  Thanks, girls!

Bevan, Donna, and Anna Bean (as Treyson calls her) came down for their annual the-winter-is-over-the-ski-resort-is-closed- trip to visit!  We had fun catching up and loving on that sweet Anna!

Tanner's last Freshman baseball game was on the 24th.  I am not ashamed to say that after the game I sat in my car and shed a tear or two.  It has been such a fun team to watch.  Most of these boys have played together in 7th, 8th, and now 9th grade, and will probably not play together again for a while.  Next year, a few of these boys will move up to Varsity, while most of them will be playing J.V.  It will still be great, just never the same.

Top Row: Coach Gilbert, Adrian Montano, Justin Boubelik, Sonny Santibanez, Tyler Muzzy, Brendan Morris, Ryan Beaver, Tanner Lewis, Coach Peloquin
Bottom Row: Daylan Amey, Brandon Balli, Sam Eichinger, Max Cook, Jake Peloquin, Harrison Alteri, Evan Spitzer, Christopher (Boston) Rossini

This weekend is looking to be another busy one.  The baseball booster is having a huge garage sell to raise some needed funds for the team.  I also have a couple of baseball games and a bridal shower to attend.  However, next week holds a couple of very special events:
Kevin is graduating with his Masters Degree (wooooooo hoooooo!!!!!)
and
Tater Bug is getting baptized!!

Bball Players and Super Heros

October 7th marked the end of the first quarter for my kids' schools.  It was also Diamondback/Super Hero Day.  Tate went for the straight D-Backs look, while Treyson decided to do a mixture of the two.
One of our very favorite D-Backs goes by the nickname "Tatman", so Treyson mixed his Batman shirt with Ryan Robert's name and number.
Unfortunately, the D-Backs went on, later that day, to lose game 5 and failed to advance in the playoffs, ultimately ending their quest to make it to the world series.  It's always a sad day for me when the season is over, but luckily, the new season is just around the corner!!

Freshman Fall Ball

There's nothing like watching a ball game on a Saturday morning at 9 a.m. when it's already 102*.
When it ended it was 115*.
I am so excited for some cooler temps!!

School 2011

It was a crazy day!  Tanner left for school at 6:15 a.m.
I didn't get a photo...
Shocking.
He was pretty nervous, but when he got home he said it was a good day.
Ty started Jr High this year.  He was nervous, too.  He left around 6:45 a.m...
I guess he thought he might not make it in time.
I mean, school starts at 7:40, and he had to walk all the way across the street and about 1/4 mile east.
He had a great day!
Treyson was up at 5 a.m. because he was so excited!  I went in his room at around 5:30.  He was showered, dressed, had made his bed, and was sitting on it because Tanner had told him that he got up too early and to go back to his room.
Thank goodness we have Tanner around to keep things in order!
He wasn't nervous at all, and was excited to learn that a few of his favorite people were in his class.  Of course this includes a darling female friend, whom I won't mention because it would embarrass him too much...
Tate also woke up at 5 a.m. and did everything that Treyson did because that's how he rolls.
He was as ornery as a bear, though, and made life pretty un'bear'able for everyone around him until it was finally time to go to school.
He changed his shirt 5 times, and his socks at least 3 times because they were either too big, too small, or too bunchy.
Oh, and his glasses were too tight and he didn't want to brush his teeth.
He opted for the oldest and ugliest shirt he has in his drawer, which I'll also point out, has a huge hole in the front.
I was sick of fighting with him, so I let him go looking like a homeless, motherless child.
I can't imagine what his teacher thinks.
All in all, they had a pretty okay day.
They were exhausted.
 I was exhausted.
Should be an exciting year!
