What do you call two guys in white shirts and ties with their heads in a freezer at Basha's?? I don't know.

An Evening Out

Our anniversary passed quietly, without fan fare or hoopla...just the way I like it. UNTIL I got a text message from Kev on Friday morning telling me to pack an overnight bag and be ready to go at 2:30. STINKER!! He knows how I hate surprises, but he keeps doing them anyway.
It turns out that he had planned a night away at Gainey Ranch in Scottsdale, AZ.
Scottsdale Hotel Scottsdale Arizona Hotel Gainey Suites Hotel Scottsdale Arizona
We spent a fun afternoon/evening just hanging out and spending time together. We ate dinner at The Cheesecake Factory and did some shopping at Kierland Commons and then headed over to the Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall to do some people watching, and to allow me to oooooohhh and aaaahhhh over designer shoes and handbags. As I was distracted by the Burberry window display, Kevin yelled to me to hurry over to where he was standing. I walked over to him and he enthusiastically pointed out

Rafael Furcal (LA Dodgers). So, I casually walked into Salvatore Ferragamo (like I can even afford to look!!!) and got an eye full of the MLB player!! FUN STUFF...at least for me!!! Then as we were walking down the mall I nearly walked into Darren Sutton (t.v. announcer, AZ Diamondbacks)!!!

It was a good people watching night!! After that, we headed back to our hotel and just watched a movie and chilled out. Even though I hate surprises, I'm thankful for a hubby that loves me and wants to do fun things for me. He's the best!

Tigers and Cowboys and Kickball, Oh My!!

We have had a fun couple of days! On Friday, Tate and I headed to the zoo to meet up with Rachel and Maddie, and Nikkel and Austin. We had fun looking at all of the animals and catching up. On Friday night we headed out to San Tan Flat, with the Stecks, for a surprise birthday party for our friend, Mark. It was such a cool place! You can eat inside, or go outside and sit near a fire pit and listen to the live band play. They even have a dance floor if the mood strikes. The only pictures that I got were of Sara roasting the perfect mallow.
Today was a busy day. Kevin had to work this morning. Tanner had little league tryouts at 9 a.m., and then Ty had his tryout at 11 a.m. When Kevin got home from work we went out to Power Ranch to have a rowdy game of kickball with the Steck and Foote families. The kids, and the big kids, had a fantastic time. When we got home we had a delicious dinner of steak and lobster, followed up with chocolate dipped strawberries. YUM!!
The boys had cards from Auntie Amy, Aunt Charlyce and Uncle Don, and G&G Young. The opened a gift bag from G&G Hawkins that had candy (of course) and Madagascar 2. Then Kevin and I gave them a new game for the Wii.
All in all, it was a great Valentine's Day--and that's coming from the biggest hater of Valentine's Day that ever was. I love my family. I'm so blessed. It's hard to be a hater when my life is filled with so much love!!

{DISNEYLAND 2009}

We had such a great time at Disneyland this year!! And, the best thing about it was that the boys had no idea we were going. It was the hardest thing to keep it a secret, but it paid off because they were surprised!! On Sunday morning Kevin and I got up early and got ready to go. I had packed a suitcase for the boys and myself the night before and everything was in the car ready to go. I had purchased some boxes for that morning and in them was a breakfast sandwich, some juice, a banana, and a Disney themed Pez candy dispenser. When the boys woke up and saw that I was all dressed I told them that Grandma and Grandpa had decided to come and that we needed to hurry and get dressed so that we could pick them up at the airport. They all went and got dressed and we got in the car. Their boxes were sitting on their seats and I told them that we were going to pick up Grandma and Grandpa, but that there was a clue in their boxes as to where we would be picking them up. So they opened the boxes and saw the McMuffins and Tanner says, "McDonalds??". It was right then that Ty found the Pez dispenser and yelled, "Disneyland?" and then the car erupted in cheers and excitement. It was so fun for me. It's hard working up a surprise like that!!!
When we got to California we went straight to the John Wayne airport to pick up Grandma and Grandpa H and went to have lunch at The Cheesecake Factory. That night we watched the Super Bowl in our hotel room (darn it, Cardinals!!), and got ready for 3 fun days in Disney.
It seems like the days went way too fast, but it was so much fun to spend time together as a family. Our lives are so busy that it makes me cherish the time, like this, that we can just focus on each other. We had fun spending time with Grandma and Grandpa H, who'd never been to California Adventure, and the Steck family.
We got home Thursday afternoon, exhausted but happy. It will definitely be a trip to remember!!
