{DISNEYLAND 2009}

We had such a great time at Disneyland this year!! And, the best thing about it was that the boys had no idea we were going. It was the hardest thing to keep it a secret, but it paid off because they were surprised!! On Sunday morning Kevin and I got up early and got ready to go. I had packed a suitcase for the boys and myself the night before and everything was in the car ready to go. I had purchased some boxes for that morning and in them was a breakfast sandwich, some juice, a banana, and a Disney themed Pez candy dispenser. When the boys woke up and saw that I was all dressed I told them that Grandma and Grandpa had decided to come and that we needed to hurry and get dressed so that we could pick them up at the airport. They all went and got dressed and we got in the car. Their boxes were sitting on their seats and I told them that we were going to pick up Grandma and Grandpa, but that there was a clue in their boxes as to where we would be picking them up. So they opened the boxes and saw the McMuffins and Tanner says, "McDonalds??". It was right then that Ty found the Pez dispenser and yelled, "Disneyland?" and then the car erupted in cheers and excitement. It was so fun for me. It's hard working up a surprise like that!!!
When we got to California we went straight to the John Wayne airport to pick up Grandma and Grandpa H and went to have lunch at The Cheesecake Factory. That night we watched the Super Bowl in our hotel room (darn it, Cardinals!!), and got ready for 3 fun days in Disney.
It seems like the days went way too fast, but it was so much fun to spend time together as a family. Our lives are so busy that it makes me cherish the time, like this, that we can just focus on each other. We had fun spending time with Grandma and Grandpa H, who'd never been to California Adventure, and the Steck family.
We got home Thursday afternoon, exhausted but happy. It will definitely be a trip to remember!!

What a great idea to surprise the boys! It's amazing how happy it can make you just seeing how happy you've made them.
We actually got Luke all the way through the gates @ the disney hotel before he figured out his surprise.

I love your originality in the surprise! How fun! But I am jealous. We haven't been since before Cannon was born and it's right in our own backyard! The pictures are great!

I think you just might win "Mom of the Year" for that one!! Way to go pulling that off, they'll remember that forever.

So I guess Tanner must have forgotten when I blurted D-land out at the softball game months ago and then tried to cover it up by saying you were going to a "department store"? Oh yeah I'm slick.

How fun! Isn't Disney Land amazing! I am amazed that you were able to pack and keep it all a secret. It takes me two days to pack for my 4 kids. I am glad you got to go. So fun!
