Let The Games Begin!

Today was opening day for Desert Ridge Little League!! I love baseball season and I especially love watching my boys play. It's been insane trying to get all 4 of them to their practices, etc, but totally worth it! They all played in games today so we were basically at the ball park all day. We started with opening ceremonies at 7:30, followed by games at 9:00, 9:30, 1:30, and 3:30. They also had team pictures, and Tanner and Ty participated in a hit-a-thon fund raiser. They all looked so good in their uniforms, and they all played GREAT! I'm exhausted, but it really was a fun day!!
This is Ty with some team mates waiting for the opening day parade. He's on the (Minor League) Brewers this year. He's their starting pitcher and also plays all infield positions.Tanner is on the (Majors) Dodgers. He is the starting catcher, but will also pitch and play infield.Treyson is on the (Coach Pitch) Lugnuts. He is their "heavy hitter" and really likes to play 3rd.Tate is on the (T-Ball) Grasshoppers and mainly played in the outfield during the first game. He likes to hit home runs (even thought they don't have home runs in t-ball).

Alarming

The smoke alarms in my house are possessed. Truly possessed. I can't explain it any other way. They go off at all hours for absolutely no reason. A couple of weeks ago they went off on a Sunday morning. We couldn't get them to stop. We went around and took out every battery, and then shut the breaker off. After about 10 minutes of screeching they finally shut off.
Well, last weekend they went off again. I don't know how they can do that when there's NO batteries in them, and NO power going to them. It was ear splitting and it was 4:11 A.M.
Heaven help me. So, my whole house has dangling smoke alarms right now. It's a little "white trash-y" but I have to figure out why they keep going off for no reason. I change the batteries every 6 months, and I have even vacuumed the dust out of them (a suggestion on the web).
Any ideas or suggestions??

Spring Break 2009

We usually go to Utah for spring break, but since our break this year was jam packed with baseball practices we decided to just stay home and chill. We didn't do much at all, although we did play a lot of Wii, and the boys were able to play with their friends. Tate had Weston come over to play one day and I had to take this picture. Weston LOVES his food. He thoroughly enjoys it and I think it's adorable. On one of the days they all decided to jump in the freezing cold pool. They were only able to stay in for a few minutes, but had fun doing it--well, everyone except for Tate. He didn't like the cold water!!! Grandma and Grandpa Lewis joined us for the last couple of days of the break. It was fun hanging out and catching up with them. It had been a really long time since they had been down here. I was actually sad to send the boys back to school on Monday...I know, you're all in shock that I said that...but, it was nice to be able to just hang out and not have a schedule for a few days. I love my boys and cherish the time I get to spend with them!!

"Rash" Decisions

You know when you're at the doctor and they ask you,
"Are you allergic to any medications?"...
Well, my answer has always been "no" ...until today. From now on my answer will be
"Oh YES!".
No more "sulfa" drugs for me. I am covered from head to toe with a red, bumpy rash that itches like the dickens.
Hopefully it will be gone
SOON!!!

High Jump

Tanner participated in the Augusta Ranch Elementary high jump competition this year. I was able to go to the school and watch him compete. There were probably 40-45 kids competing, and Tanner nearly made it to the final round. He jumped 3'10" which I thought was pretty good for someone who had never done the high jump before. I was proud of him for trying!! Great job, Tan!!

Copy Cat

I'm not creative. This shouldn't come as a shock to anyone who knows me. But, I am an o.k. copy cat. So, when a friend of mine had her birthday I decided to use my copy cat skills and try something new. As you may recall, a few weeks ago I learned to decorate cookies using Royal Icing. It's something that I really enjoyed learning, and when I do it I feel a little bit creative. So I got the idea in my head that I was going to make her a Cookie Bouquet. So, I bought a pot, some skewers, a foam ball, and some cute cookie cutters. Then I made some cookie dough and cut out the cute flower shaped cookies. Everything seemed to be going well UNTIL I tried to make the icing. What a joke. Let me just say that Royal Icing is a royal pain in the butt! I tried 3 or 4 or 20 times to get it "just right", because if it's not it just does not work. Finally I got it to a consistency that kind of worked and just went with it. When it was all said and done I think they looked pretty good...not great, but good. And, when it was all put together and tied up with a cute bow it actually looked somewhere between good and great. I think it's something that I'll keep working at.

The Door

For those of you who are Disney fans, you may be familiar with "Boo's door". You know...Boo...on Monsters, Inc.
No?
Well, it looks like this:I love this door. It's so cute painted pink and all, and it even has flowers on it. I would like a door like this in my house. I'm sure the boys would complain, though.
Anyway...
I absolutely HATE this door:Why?
Well, I'm glad you asked.
It's because behind that door is this:
Most of the time I just keep the door shut. I'm like a two year old that way. If I can't see it, it's just not there. It's a nightmare...or even worse: a night terror! It's like a nuclear bomb went off and nothing survived. Actually, it's like some crazy mom told her 4 sons to go up and clean the playroom, but didn't supervise while they did it...
Oh, wait. That's me.
So, today I was looking for the paint swatches (I don't think that's even the proper term for those little, teeny, tiny pieces of paper with a little, teeny, tiny bit of paint color on them...how in the world are you supposed to pick out paint from that teeny, tiny little sample??...oooo, sorry...went off on a rant there...) that I got from Lowe's and couldn't find them anywhere. A little voice in my head told me to look in the playroom, but I ignored it and kept on looking for them. Eventually I went back to the playroom...
I realized that while the boys were "cleaning" the playroom the swatches probably got thrown into the toy closet. I took a deep breath and moved slowly, but confidently, toward "the door". Sure enough, the paint swatches were in there. After surveying the damage, I got in my car and headed straight to Wally World to pick up a few of these:
After 2 hours, and "what in the world is that?" mumbled under my breath a few times, I conquered the closet. Now it looks like this:
And...I no longer hate that door.
At least for now.
