Faux What?

Today is "Crazy Hair Day" at school. Tate was extremely concerned that his hair was too short to be crazy. Our conversation went something like this:
Tate: Mom, can you make my hair bigger? Or cut it? Or make it spiky?
Me: Come into the bathroom. Let's try a Faux-Hawk.
Tate: A what?
Me: Faux, as in fake--hawk.
Tate: Ooooo. It's like Cash's (Kennedy)!!!
A few minutes later Kevin got home from the gym.
Kevin: Cool hair, Tate!
Tate: Dad, look. Do you like it? It's a fake bird. (pointing to his hair)

Eight Is Great!!!

Happy 8th Birthday, Treyson!!!It's amazing how fast they grow!!I'm so thankful for Treyson in my life! He is such a happy, sweet boy, and a huge help to me. He is kind to his brothers, and is rarely without a smile on his face. He's so excited to finally be eight so he can be "bath-tized", and I'm so proud of him for making that decision. I love you, buddy!!! Happy Birthday!!

Swiss Days 2009

"Friendship is the only cement that will ever hold the world together"

- Woodrow Wilson

I got to spend a few days with a few of my favorite friends...there aren't many things better than that!!! We had blast laughing, eating, and shopping, and I am thankful, everyday, for the blessings these women bring to my life. I love the individuality of each of them. I love that no matter how different we are, we still learn from each other. I love that they teach me things about myself that I may have never known otherwise. I love that they love so deeply, and that we can share our true feelings with each other. I love that they listen and hear, and offer advice with a caring heart. I love that we can laugh, and pray, and share our testimonies with each other without awkwardness, and I love that we can be silly and stupid and laugh until the tears run down our faces. I love that they are each a part of my life. Thank you gals, for strengthening me and for being my friends!!Tennille, Katie, Me, Sara, Kandyce, Amie, Terrie, Melissa
This photo was taken outside of a tire shop in SLC. As we came out of the canyon Terrie and I heard a loud sound and soon realized that we had a leaky tire. We were literally 800 meters from this tire repair shop. A tender mercy, for sure!!
After getting the tire fixed we headed to SLC for some shopping...hitting Jolley's, The Dodo for lunch, Tai Pan, Rod Works, Hapari Swimwear, Tres Jolie, and then to dinner at Los Hermanos in Pleasant Grove. Fun, fun, fun!!! This is Katie's parent's home in Midway, Utah. It was absolutely beautiful there. So peaceful. It was wonderful to be able to open the windows and hear the wind blow gently through the trees. On Friday morning we were up bright and early to get to Swiss Days! We spent the day visiting all of the booths and eating. I had a scone with honey for breakfast, and a "Swiss Taco" for lunch. It was so yummy!!! It was also really fun to run into Bonnie, Rebecca, Michelle, and Katherine!!

On Saturday we went back to Jolley's to get some souvenirs for our families, then to a couple of cute boutiques in SLC, and then headed to the airport to return back to Arizona.

It was a fun trip! I can't wait until next year!!! (hint, hint, Katie!!)

A Short Story

"Give me a glass of milk, Grandpa!", exclaimed Tate.
"Do you know the magic word?", asked Grandpa.
With a short pause and peculiar look Tate responds, "Chicken?".
The family erupted in laughter.
The End

Remember

It's hard to believe that it's been 8 years since the attacks on the World Trade Center. I'm so thankful to be an American, and even though I don't agree with the direction our country is headed right now, I'm still so blessed to live in a land of the brave and the free.

I Love To See The Temple

I got the sweetest email from our ward's Primary President today. I had to make a record of it, so here it is:
I wanted to tell you something about Tate that I saw at our activity on Saturday. When we got into the temple visitor's center, we broke up into three groups. Our first station was to look at the paintings on the wall, find the two that had donkeys, and write down the names of the paintings. Of course, this was quite difficult for most of the kids, especially the younger ones, but Tate stood there at both of those paintings until he was content that he had written it down correctly (most everyone else moved on to the next station, and I tried to hurry him along so we wouldn't get left behind). Then we went into the "neighborhood" area near the back of the visitor's center. There is a huge wall that is all glass windows where you can get a great view of the temple. While many of the children were looking at the different Books of Mormon or trying out the computer screens, I noticed Tate standing in front of that window drawing a picture of the temple. He had to have stood there for at least ten minutes, looking at the temple and adding detail to his picture. It was so sweet to see him so determined to make it just right. I kept walking by, taking pictures and talking with the other children and each time, Tate was still there. I truly cannot describe it in words how touched I was as I watched him concentrate on the temple amidst the chaos. It was one of those moments I won't forget. I just wanted to let you know how much I love your boys. I am so grateful that I got to have this little experience with Tate.
Oh, how I adore this little guy!!
