Kindergarten Open House

On the 29th, Tate and I went to the school for the Kindergarten Open House. I made the mistake of telling Tate about the open house a week before, and had to answer questions every day for a week whether or not it was his day to "go to school". He is so excited for Kindergarten! It actually makes me want to cry. I have been so excited for all of my boys to start school, but with Tate it's a little bit different. I really don't want him to go. Really. And if you know me, you know that's not normal. I'm usually the one that's doing cheers on the first day of school. I'm the mom that's NOT crying. I have a feeling that will change this fall. Darn.
Anyway, we got to the school and were given a paper detailing the treasure hunt that we were to do through the school. We met all of the kindergarten teachers, saw the library and the lunch/multi purpose room, and then got to play in the kindergarten playground. Tate was so cute waving to all of the teachers and bravely telling them his name..."Tate. Tate Lewis".
He had fun seeing a few of his friends and meeting Mrs. Kreitzer, the principal. It was a fun afternoon...for him. As soon as we got home I asked him to come snuggle with me on the couch while we watched "Wow Wow Wubzy". I sure wish time would slow down!!

Bedroom #2

My next project was Tanner's room. It was painted a dark green color, had an ugly ceiling fan and an ugly hole in the wall, and was in desperate need of an update. Brian came over and taught us all how to repair dry wall holes, and then I re-painted the room in a lovely color called "wicker". After adding a "sedona red" accent wall and a new ceiling fan it was done. Now I just have to decide what to do next...

Changing It Up

When I get an idea in my head I pretty much have to do it. Have to. So when I decided to redo the "playroom" I had to. Ya know? So, anyway, I got some bead board, some base board, a chair rail, and some paint. Then I borrowed some equipment necessary to cut and nail all of the said boards. Then I recruited the hubby to help me cut the bead board. And, two weeks later, this is what I came up with. Now, the gigantic "playroom" serves as a bedroom and a play room. I absolutely love to do home improvement projects, and I have to say that I'm pretty darn proud myself.

Now on to the next bedroom...

AMERICAN IDOL, ZAC......LUCKY!!!

So, my beautiful friend, Andrea, was at the taping of American Idol yesterday and sat directly behind Zac Efron. (She's on the left side of his head) If you will recall, I have a teeny, tiny little crush on Zac Efron. Lucky girl!! :)

Discovered Treasure

Sara, her sister, Amy, and her sister in law, Rachel, introduced me to a delicious treasure in Mesa yesterday. It's called Pastis and it's located on Val Vista and Baseline. It's a EuroGrille and Delicatessen, and let me tell you...IT WAS YUMMY--and I'm not just talking about the co-owner, Luka. (hee hee) The food was splendid. I started my meal with a bowl of french onion soup, followed by a veggie stuffed chicken breast (with the most divine sauce on it). We finished up our meal with crepes stuffed with chocolate, nutella, fresh strawberries and bananas. If you're ready for an experience, definitely go to this restaurant. But, don't go there if you're in a hurry. We were there for probably 2 hours. Not because the service was slow...but because, like I said, it's an experience to eat there. We found out a lot about Luka--who is super cool, by the way. It turns out that he's from Serbia, but raised in France. He played football (soccer) in Europe, but then came to Arizona to play for Grand Canyon University. While doing this he earned his Masters Degree in management. He is married and has plans to open more restaurants here in Arizona. His brother, Marko, plays football (soccer) for Switzerland, and his father, Slavoljub, coaches professional football (soccer) in Russia. The restaurant has received some pretty great reviews. Check them out! And, if you want to go, call me! I'd love to go again!!!

Easter Activities

For the first time in I don't know how many years we colored our Easter eggs before 10 p.m. Saturday night...in fact, we did them Saturday morning!! And, I actually boiled the eggs on Friday night, so I was WAY prepared this year!!! :)
On Sunday morning the boys were up EXTRA early (5:15 a.m. to be exact) anxiously awaiting our annual Easter Egg Hunt in the back yard. It kinda makes me laugh that they look forward to this because the Easter Bunny usually runs out of places to hide the eggs (or he just gets tired of trying to find places to hide them...or he's just tired--it is usually around 5 a.m.), so they just end up lying all over the grass--completely exposed and un-hidden. But, they love it so the Easter Bunny continues to "hide" the eggs every year.

After the hunt we ate hard boiled eggs and LOTS of candy. It was a nutritious and delicious breakfast. We followed that up a few hours later with a lunch of hard boiled eggs and some more candy. Very healthful. By the time we went to church the boys were on a sugar high like you've never seen before. Unfortunately the sugar doesn't make them nice. It just makes them ornery and irritable...or maybe it was the insanely early hour they decided to wake...

This year, instead of the usual "church attire" that the Easter Bunny usually brings, he brought them each a new t-shirt and a pair of plaid shorts that they can wear to school. The bunny also brought a few new movies.

We had a delicious Honey Baked Ham for dinner, accompanied by rice casserole and home made rolls. I was able to sneak some healthy broccoli and cauliflower on the boys dinner plates, and amazingly most of it was consumed.
Whew!!

Easter Egg Hunt

The Relief Society organized an Easter egg hunt for the children in the ward. Tanner and Ty thought they were too big, and way too cool to go, so Tate, Treyson, and I went and had a great time!! Each kid was allowed 10 eggs, but by the time I caught up with Tate he had about 25...I helped him put some back...little stinker!!

Blink and You'll Miss It...

Tonight I went to Tanner's baseball game. He was the starting pitcher. But...after he pitched a couple of innings they pulled him and then put him in as catcher. He was catching for his team's best pitcher, Cam. I wish I had a picture of Cam. He's twelve years old, but he's about a foot taller than most of the kids on their team and boy-oh-boy can he pitch! He's pretty intimidating on the mound. Anyway, on our way home Tanner says, "When you're catching Cam you have to time your blinks".
I said, "Time your blinks? As in, 'if you blink you'll miss it', time your blinks?"
And he said, "Yes".
I laughed and laughed and laughed.
I Love Tanner!!
